Sharing stories has been at the core of who I am my entire life.
In elementary school, I created a Sailor Moon fan magazine called Moon Talk, which was hand-written and illustrated, stapled together, and passed around my class. The kids loved it, so I kept creating new “issues” summarizing the latest episodes I’d seen on television.
Captivated by anecdotes of my abuelo’s career as a journalist in Cuba, it seemed only fitting that I would follow in his footsteps.
Over time, I realized that the reason I loved writing so much was because of the way that it connects us. Words have the power to give insight into the unseen, exhuming the very real, very raw human experiences that too often remain buried deep within. For those who thrive in community–like myself–writing is revitalizing.
And that’s my history–I’ve been writing ever since.
I created From Heart to Byline after many years of being something of a digital nomad, just trying to find community and make some space where my words could belong.
